Llanberis Lake Railway
About an hours drive from Cae Garw self catering holiday accommodation on the Lleyn Peninsula is the Llanberis Lake Railway.
No visit to North Wales would be complete without tours on one of the Great Little Trains of Wales.Offering unrivaled views of Snowdonia , this delightful narrow gauge railway will take passengers for a 60 minute journey around Padarn Lake and Snowdonia National Park with diesel and steam locomotives.
Journing past the Welsh Slate Museums, and Dolbadarn castle, this visitors' attraction offers picturesque views of quaint cottages, across to Peris Lake and Llanberis Pass. Llanberis Station is a great stop off point for shops, hotels and restaurants in the village, as well as the Snowdon Mountain Railway and Electric Mountain Visitor Centre.
Originally built in the 19th century to transport slate from the nearby quarries to Port Dinorwic, the railtrack closed in the 1960s because the slate demand decreased. Today the line remains one of the main attractions of Snowdonia.
