Abersoch

Abersoch - a picturesque harbour village , nestles between two headlands - Cilan and Llanbedrog. Lying on the South of the Lleyn Peninsula , this bustling holiday destination is about 15 mins drive from our self catering rental cottage accommodation, and about 7 miles from Pwllheli.

Named "the Welsh Riviera" - it is the most popupar coastal resort on the Lleyn and a haven for watersport lovers. With two beaches with views towards St Tudwals' Island, Snowdonia and Cardigan Bay, it provides excellent waters for wakeboarding , waterskiing, diving, sailing, powerboating, yatching and windsurfing.

A variety of events take place here throughout the year- including the Abersoch Jazz Festival, Wakestock Championships, Abersoch Regatta, and various International Sailing Events.

A flourishing village - it has an excellent choice of clothing shops, craft centres, art galleries , bars, bistros and restaurants. A large number of yachts are moored in the bay during the summer months, and specialised shops will cater for all our yatching needs.Watersport tuition by qualified instructors are always available, but advance booking might be adviasble.

The Harbour Beach, straddling the River Soch is the main area for launching boats, and can be terribly busy at peak periods, but the area of sand towards the Warren and Llanbedrog Quarry beach is much quieter with ideal bathing areas. The harbour itself provides an excellent place for crab fishing at high tide.

The main beach - extends from the Harbour beach towards Cilan headland has its own cafe, shop and car park. Bathing is considered safe due to a boat exclusion zone. If your'e lucky enough - you might be able to hire one of the beach huts - otherwise they are available to buy at £63,000 upwards!!

The St Tudwals Islands are privately owned - although pleasure boat trips and fishing trips around the islands to view the resident seal colony are available - weather permitting.

Although Abersoch is popular with surfers - Porth Neigwl (Hell's Mouth), Porth Ceiriad and Porth Oer (Whistling Sands) tend to be the main surfing beaches - being exposed to regular Atlantic swells. Water quality at Porth Neigwl is one of the best in Wales according to the Environment Agency.
